About George
George has practised law in Melbourne since 1990, beginning his career with large and mid-sized firms in the CBD. He worked closely with State and Federal Government departments and corporate clients across mergers and acquisitions, commercial leasing, joint ventures, international contracts and property acquisitions.
From 2010, George acted for select clients while consulting to medium and large law firms on commercial and litigation matters. In 2019, he established W J Legal (Aust) Pty Ltd, a boutique practice advising domestic and international clients on commercial transactions, contracts, corporate governance, commercial ventures and dispute resolution.
As Senior Special Counsel at P&B Law, George brings more than 35 years of experience advising companies on corporate governance, joint ventures, commercial transactions and litigation. He is known for identifying the key issues in complex matters and providing clear, practical advice that helps clients make informed decisions.
George values strong, lasting relationships with clients, directors and other legal professionals. His experience working across cultures and jurisdictions also enables him to guide international clients through Australian legal requirements and commercial considerations.
Notable Transactions and Achievements
George has been involved in a range of significant matters throughout his career, including:
- Advising State and Federal Government stakeholders and corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, international contracts and land acquisitions for developers.
- Establishing an independent commercial legal consultancy while advising medium and large law firms on commercial and litigation matters.
- Acting as Principal Lawyer for an operating Chinese multidisciplinary corporation with a legal practice in Box Hill Central and the Melbourne CBD.
- Leading a legal counsel team advising a board on its initial public offering (IPO) application and compliance with Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) listing requirements.
- Establishing W J Legal (Aust) Pty Ltd in 2019, developing a boutique legal practice serving domestic and international clients.
Outside the Office
George is a lifelong Melbourne Football Club supporter and regularly attends AFL games at the MCG. He is also an author, plays guitar and has a lifelong passion for music. His recent book, The 4 C’s, reflects the values he holds closest, particularly the importance of family and the strong bonds that shape our lives.
